Thank you packs bring smiles to In Home Nurses on International Nurses Day

12th May 2020

In Home Nurses across Victoria will receive much deserved thank you packs from Victorian aged care and community health provider, Benetas, this International Nurses Day.

The gift with chocolates, books and thank you messages, are designed to acknowledge the incredible work that the In Home Nurses have undertaken these past months to provide ongoing healthcare and support to many older people across Victoria.

General Manager of Community Health and Care Veronica Jamison said the work of In Home Nurses in aged care had never been more important to acknowledge and thank publicly.

“Our In Home Nurses have played an incredible role in supporting older Australians to be able to live safely and confidently in their own home during this uncertain time. There has been incredible morale across the team, and they have done exceptional work to keep people safe and out of hospital throughout this time.”

As part of Benetas’ In Home Nursing Service, the nurses offer older people across Victoria with the clinical treatment they need to be able to continue managing independently and safely at home.

“Our In Home Nurses provide older people with risk assessments of their home environments alongside regular clinical care, which involves everything from wound treatment and the administering of medication, through to continence care and chemotherapy,” Ms Jamison said.

“These are essential services that have helped protect many older peoples’ health during COVID-19, and have notably been delivered with great diligence and commitment from all our In Home Nurses involved.”

During the uncertainty of COVID-19, Benetas In Home Nurses have taken extensive precautions to ensure the ongoing safe treatment of those in their care. As part of this, some have made personal sacrifices and extensive measures in their home life to ensure that they’re in the best possible condition.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our In Home Nurses for their dedication and sincere commitment during this very challenging time. They have truly gone above and beyond, and like all nurses providing exceptional care, are worth their weight in gold.

“I hope that if nothing else, our community is able to recognise these often unsung heroes and the unwavering commitment that they bring to our community.”

“On this International Nurses Day, we thank you.”
