What is CHSP?
The Commonwealth Home Support Program provides small amounts of entry-level support to assist older people aged 65 years and over (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to remain living at home and in their community. The government will usually offer you CHSP prior to assigning you to a Home Care Package or where a Home Care Package is not currently available in your area.
How much does it cost?
If you’re eligible to receive CHSP services in your home, there is a personal contribution you’ll need to make. First, see the income range guide below:

What steps do I take to get CHSP?
To apply for funding support to receive care in your home, you will first need to register with My Aged Care.

What kind of services are provided with CHSP?
Allied Health Services (in Macedon Ranges only)
If you live in the Macedon Ranges you may be eligible for low cost community health services, social support groups and free counselling at Macedon Ranges Health. MRH provide dietetics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, social support and exercise groups. Visit Macedon Ranges Health to find out more.
Domestic Assistance
Provides assistance with domestic chores to maintain your capacity to manage everyday activities in a safe, secure, and healthy home environment. Examples include cleaning, linen, shopping, washing, ironing, and meal preparation.
Equipment and Assistive Technology
Enabling you to perform tasks you might otherwise be unable to do or promoting increased safety and independence. Examples include communication aids, medical aids, personal monitoring, over-toilet frames, shower chairs, sensor mats, adapted utensils, walking frames, and low vision aids.
Meals
We’ve partnered with Lite n' Easy to deliver Meals On Wheels and provide you with access to meals and nutritional sustenance.
In-Home Nursing
We offer acute and chronic nursing care, as well as ongoing monitoring and support.
Personal Care
Support in activities of daily living that help you maintain appropriate standards of hygiene and grooming. Examples include assisting you to self-administer medicine, eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, getting in and out of bed.
General cleaning
We can clean exhaust fans, air conditioner filters, ceiling fans and light fittings, kitchen cupboards & door frames too!
Lawn Mowing
Lawn mowing of average size house blocks.
Minor repairs
We can assist with minor repairs of windows, doors, and handles. This is to maintain your home to be in a safe and habitable condition.
Minor replacements/installations
We can replace light globes, tap washers, and smoke detector batteries. We can also install smoke detectors and water-saving shower heads.
Safety access pruning
We can prune shrubs and plants to ensure walkways, driveways, and doorways are safe and clear to access.
Social Support Group
We facilitate your participation in community life and help you feel socially included through structured, group-based activities. These activities develop, maintain, and support your independent living and social interaction. Examples include tailored activities promoting physical activity, cognitive stimulation, emotional wellbeing, group excursions, and companionship.
Transport
Providing you access to transport services that support your engagement with the community.
