Benetas has started construction on the final 49 retirement living homes to be built as part of the final stages of St John’s Rise Retirement Village in Mooroolbark.
The final stages will complete the 131-unit community by mid-2027, six years after construction started at the Reay Road site.
People aged 55 and older can now begin expressing interest in the homes with the first residents expected to move in by early 2027.
Benetas CEO Sandra Hills OAM said the growth of the community and the connection between residents had been exponential over the past few years.
“We’re looking forward to completing the final stages at St John’s Rise, delivering a contemporary community for people over the age of 55 to socialise and enjoy,” Ms Hills said.
“We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from those residents who already call the village home, especially with its close community atmosphere and proximity to the Mooroolbark shopping precinct and public transport.”
Residents began moving into the 46-unit first stage of the community in July 2022 with residents moving into the 36-unit second stage in July 2024.
St John’s Rise Retirement Village features a brand-new community centre, complete with a swimming pool, fitness centre, hairdressing salon, cinema and billiard room.
“The community centre has given residents, families and friends a new, state-of-the-art facility to gather, remain healthy and to be entertained,” Ms Hills said.
Benetas also provides Support at Home services to Mooroolbark residents, including those at St John’s Rise, as part of our focus on providing a Continuing Care Community.
Support at Home services include care management, allied health and in-home nursing as well as independence and everyday living support.
Benetas services extend from retirement living through to home care services, respite care and 13 residential aged care homes.
Benetas operates six retirement communities including St John’s Rise, Bridgewater Lake in Roxburgh Park, The Oaks in Croydon, Dalkeith Heights in Traralgon, Eastwood Retirement in Bairnsdale and St Laurence Court Community in Bendigo.
