Restricted visitor access for Benetas aged care homes in Metropolitan Melbourne
8th July 2020
Aligned with the Victorian Government’s announcement to reinstate Stage 3 "Stay at Home" restrictions across Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, Benetas is temporarily restricting visitor access to all our aged care homes in this vicinity.
This will be introduced from 11.59 pm tonight, Wednesday 8 July, for a period of six weeks.
Given the heightened risk of community transmission across these postcodes, we believe this is an important preventative measure to protect the health and safety of all those in our care who remain most vulnerable to the disease.
Consistent with our previous restricted visitor access program, this will temporarily limit access to essential personnel only. This includes key staff, health care providers and important contractors and service providers such as catering, cleaning and linen.
As before, we will have measures in place for visitors to see their loved ones on compassionate purposes which will be assessed on an individual basis.
Please see our FAQs about restricted visitor access.
This has been a very difficult decision for us to make and we understand how disappointing it must be for residents and families. Our on-site teams are committed to ensuring that all residents are well looked after during this time, and will be arranging avenues for family members to connect with their loved ones as soon as possible.
The impacted residents and families have been notified of the measures that have been put in place and they will continue to receive regular updates as the situation evolves.
Please be advised that our regional homes outside the affected postcodes continue to operate in accordance with our existing Visitor Access Support Program that’s currently in place. This includes Gisborne Oaks, St Laurence Court Eaglehawk, St Laurence Court Kangaroo Flat and Dalkeith Gardens.
