Dalkeith Gardens residents move into new style apartments
26th June 2019
Residents at Benetas’ Dalkeith Gardens, formerly Hostel, have recently made the move across to their luxe new apartments, built as an extension off the existing building.
The transition was fully supported by Benetas, with devoted staff members putting in the hours to ensure a seamless move for residents.
Residents and staff celebrated in style, with a housewarming at the brand new Travellers’ Rest café that has opened up on site. Family also came to celebrate the move, raising a glass to commemorate the successful move into the lush new apartments encompassing Benetas’ model of care.
This was a new experience for all but one resident, Noelyse Sibley has lived at Dalkeith residential aged care for 16 years. She moved from the old building on Marie Street to Dalkeith Hostel and is now smitten with her room in the Dalkeith Gardens apartments. She says none have felt more like home.
“The apartment is so beautiful and homely, I look forward to spending the rest of my days here.” Said Ms Sibley.
“It was a lovely surprise to have my room all decorated and set out by the marvelous staff.”
Dalkeith Gardens’ staff worked tirelessly in the lead up to the transition across to the apartments and assisted in moving personal belongings to set up for the residents. The familial feel of each room, decorated with their possessions made for an easy transition into their new environment.
“Residents are loving the apartment style where they can help themselves in the kitchen and have the option to cook food with families,” says Karen Siddle, Activities Coordinator at Dalkeith Gardens.
“They are also enjoying the quieter dining experience.
“We have been told by residents that they are sleeping better at night with the larger beds and because the apartments are quieter.” Says Ms Siddle of the improved living arrangements at the new apartments.
Coral James is delighted with her peaceful new environment that gives her more choice and independence.
“Everything is great, the food, the beds are so comfortable. It is so fantastic to sit in the lounge quietly with my friend and watch TV at night. The views from upstairs are beautiful and the staff have been so helpful.” Said Ms James.
The gorgeous interior is not only easy on the eyes, but provides functionality to everyday life at Dalkeith Gardens. All the furniture was painstakingly chosen to ensure maximum comfort to our residents and designed to make tasks more efficient for the staff.
Benetas’ new approach to care has been implemented across seven residential sites in Victoria. The approach ensures an individualized experience of ageing through quality care and services centred around relationships and delivered in an environment that feels as close to home as can be.
