A seamless ageing journey for the Macedon Ranges
1st January 2020

The amalgamation of Macedon Ranges Health with leading Victorian aged care provider, Benetas, in 2018 came with a $60 million plan to meet the Macedon Ranges’ ageing needs. A significant portion of this is dedicated to redevelop the Gisborne Oaks aged care facility to embrace a new innovative model of care.
Wider developments in the Macedon Ranges
The $60 million not-for-profit planned investment in the region also includes:
- A new residential retirement village in the neighbouring site.
- Expansion of allied health, community and home care services in the region.
- An up-front investment of $1.2 million in Macedon Ranges Health’s facilities and infrastructure.
Development update
Towards the end of 2019, we presented a draft design of The New Oaks residential aged care home. Since then we have been working to finalise the design, taking in feedback and learnings from research we conducted on our existing facilities.
We are now pleased to advise that the plans have been completed and submitted to Council for approval. Key updates include additional larger communal spaces and more accessible open spaces to bring the community together, and a move to larger wings as opposed to smaller apartments.
This was in response to research which suggests larger wings encourage greater socialisation and engagement. Full plans for the development are now available at the local Macedon Ranges Shire Council offices. We hope you like them!
