St Paul’s Terrace resident of 19 great-grandchildren celebrates 100th birthday
21st February 2020
On 4 Feb, St Paul’s Terrace resident Lesley Brookman, affectionately known as Maie, celebrated her 100th birthday with close family and friends acknowledging her ability to enjoy life to the fullest.
In great health, Mrs Brookman said she was grateful for the life she had led so far. “I’ve had a wonderful life with friends and family.
"It’s been very special to be able to celebrate with them all today.”
Born and living in Frankston, Mrs Brookman is Great-Grandmother to 19 children and Grandmother to 14. “I’ve got quite a big family, so I didn’t need to invite many more!”
Mrs Brookman’s love for seafood and regular exercise were hypothesised as her secret to being so strong in her later years. Mrs Brookman said that more importantly it boiled down to positivity.
“When it comes to living a healthy and active life it’s important to remember the value of staying positive and having a good dose of laughter each day.
“Healthy food can be important but above all else, being kind to one another is what I’d suggest everyone take forward to be able to live a long and happy life.”
