Gisborne Oaks aged care home hosts morning tea for local firefighters
27th February 2020
On 26 of February, Benetas' Gisborne Oaks aged care home hosted local CFA firefighters for an afternoon tea with aged care residents and staff to acknowledge the great efforts made this bush fire season.
Located in the Macedon Ranges, our staff and residents have family and friends like many across Victoria who have been affected by the fires, said Residential Manager Sheena Mannion.
"As an aged care provider, we were very conscious of the risk the fires posed to our wider-community and indeed to our residents."
"The Gisborne CFA have gone above and beyond this season to provide our community with protection and safety, and there was an undeniable sentiment across staff and residents to host an event where we could share our thanks."
Gisborne Oaks raised $815 that was provided to CFA on the day by residents Pat Scott and Joan Beever. Mrs Beever shared her talents by selling bags she had sewed at the local market with all proceeds going to the fire brigade.
Lieutenant Bevan Moody said it was a wonderful afternoon that provided CFA members with an opportunity to meet Gisborne Oaks residents and staff in a relaxed environment.
"We are very appreciative of your generosity and we look forward to attending more afternoon tea visits into the future," said Lieutenant Moody.
