Trained weight class
To join the program clients are required to have a doctor’s referral and an initial free assessment with our Physiotherapists.
Strength training also known as resistance exercises improves joint mobility, muscle strength and increases bone density. Progressive strength training is beneficial and assists with the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and osteoporosis.
This class uses weights such as dumbbells and ankle weights to create resistance, which helps to build muscle mass and bone density. It also includes activities that use one’s own body weight as the load.
Ideally, strength training programs should be performed regularly, 2-3 times per week and is most beneficial when a small number of repetitions (e.g. 8-12) are used, and the weight is progressively increased.
