Establishment of the Dementia Research Development Fellowships Scheme

Benetas today welcomed the National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council’s Dementia Research Development Fellowships Scheme.

Benetas CEO, Sandra Hills said the joint NHMRC and ARC scheme would provide added incentive and opportunity to attract first-class research fellows to address this important issue.

“I congratulate both organisations on this initiative. Developing a better understanding of dementia and finding new and improved treatment methods is a critical issue.

“Over the coming decades, we will see significant growth in our older population just as we will see significant growth in the percentage of those living with dementia.

“It’s vital that we invest in research now to ensure we can continue to appropriately support and achieve the best outcomes for people living with dementia.

“Benetas has a long history of advocacy on this issue and we will continue to work and advocate in the interests of older Australians.”
