Celebration of Ageing

Benetas was established by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne in 1948. Since this time our organisation has grown to be one of the largest not-for-profit providers of aged care services in Victoria. Benetas is proud to be celebrating 65 years of service to the community this year, as we continue our history as a strong and vocal advocate for and on behalf of all older people.

In recognition of the important and valuable contribution older people have made and continue to make to our society, Benetas is pleased to present a special cathedral service, Celebration of Ageing which will be presided over by Bishop Barbara Darling on Wednesday 30 October at St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. To honour this event Benetas has commissioned Michael Leighton Jones to compose a new musical setting of the Anglican Eucharist. This will be led by the Choir of Trinity College, University of Melbourne, together with organ and festive brass. A new psalm setting and an anthem composed by Philip Matthias will also be premiered at this service.

Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating older people and ageing.
