Benetas raises the bar on pay equity for staff

We’re proud to be an employer of choice, and in early September, we celebrated Equal Pay Day by making the announcement that we will be paying superannuation to staff members while they are on paid parental leave.

This move is above the requirement for businesses in Australia under the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 and means we’re again raising the bar on pay equity for our staff.

Benetas General Manager People Development Ellen Flint said the move demonstrated Benetas’ commitment to promoting gender equality and pay equity.

“We know that women take more time off work than men when they start a family and take more parental leave, and we are seeing the impacts financially when they are preparing for retirement,” said Ms Flint.

“As a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality over the last nine years, we have a long history of advocating for and promoting the best interests of our male and female workforce.”

“This change to our superannuation policy is another step in that direction, and one that we’re very proud of.”

The move is just one part of Benetas’ commitment to pay equity, with Benetas CEO Sandra Hills a WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador. Benetas’ 1,500 staff members are also offered access to a range of initiatives which promote gender equality, including paid parental leave, job sharing, leadership development and mentoring programs, flexible work hours and a scholarship program.
