What is your money used for?
Benetas receives funding from government bodies to cover the cost of basic aged care services (accommodation, carers, food and ‘hotel’ services). However, this funding is often insufficient to pay for items such as mini-buses and drivers for outings, materials for craft and recreational pursuits or renovations to our facilities. Your contribution goes towards a range of services across Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and regional Victoria to care for over 2,000 older Victorians each year.
You may prefer your contribution to go to a specific fund or project such as:
- Installation of a children’s playground at Benetas St George’s (Altona Meadows) to cater for visiting relatives with children
- Landscaping/gardening works to a particular residential care facility
- The purchase of 100 new HiLo Beds to be distributed between each of our 12 facilities
- The Quality of Life Fund. This has been set up to help our clients financially to attain something in their life that they have identified as being especially important to them.
Mary's story
Our first recipient was Mary, a resident at Benetas Lovell House. She wanted to visit her brother in Queensland but was unable to go without assistance from a carer. The Quality of Life Fund paid for the carer’s wages, flights, accommodation and food, enabling Mary to make the visit, possibly for the last time.
