Respite Care
Care in a warm, nurturing environment
We know how important it is to be able to remain at home and receive the care and support you need as you grow older. We also recognise that from time-to-time carers themselves may need some support. Our range of high quality, flexible and responsive respite care services aim to meet both the individual and carers’ needs.
What we offer
We offer a range of high and low care options including day, overnight, emergency and weekend care through our three respite & day centres – Kilby House, Hurlingham Day Centre and Bateman House, as well as longer-term residential respite care. Food, activities and transport are also provided. Extended access and community access day programs in Springvale Epping, Wyndham Vale and Sunshine areas are also available.
Aged care day program
Programs are directed by a qualified professional providing appropriate social, emotional, intellectual and physical environment for individuals with dementia. Programs run Monday–Friday and occasionally at the weekends.
Long day/extended hours respite care
Carers can take a much-needed break and pursue other interests that would otherwise be unavailable due to being a carer. Access to the extended hours respite service is on a case-by-case basis.
Overnight, weekend and short-stay respite
Staff are on duty 24 hours to make every effort to help clients feel as though they were in their own home, so they have a positive respite care experience.
Culturally aware respite care
We offer activities and services to ensure those from diverse backgrounds enjoy high levels of service. Many of our staff are bilingual and we offer specific days to allow clients to enjoy their culture. For instance, at Kilby House in Glenroy they have Italian days with Italian staff, volunteers, music and food.
