Palliative care

A special type of care

Caring for and supporting very frail elderly people during their final phase of life is a special type of care.

Not only does palliative care provide coordinated medical, nursing and allied services to people who are dying, it also provides physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual support for the person being cared for, as well as their family and friends.

Importantly grief and bereavement support is also provided to families and carers before and after a person’s death.

Pastoral care support is available to all Benetas residential and community care clients through our dedicated pastoral care and chaplaincy services staff. Additionally, several Benetas residential care facilities have been designated by the organisation as palliative care specialists with staff undergoing best practice in palliative care training.
