St George’s – Altona Meadows
Valuing and respecting diversity
St George’s expanded in 2008 and offers residential aged care for 90 clients in spacious en-suite single rooms. Clients have access to a variety of community rooms including a theatre and hairdresser as well as secure gardens.
Leader in culturally appropriate care
St George’s is renowned for its multicultural care and their outstanding achievements in aged care have been well recognised both nationally and within Victoria. In 2003, the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency awarded St George’s with two Accreditation with Merit awards, of only 9 awarded to aged care facilities across Victoria.
Today, more than 50% of clients are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and many of the staff are multilingual, with over 20 different languages spoken.
Connecting with the local community
St George’s offers a wide-range of leisure and lifestyle activities as well as pastoral care support. There is a close connection with local community organisations, churches and social groups, giving clients access to essential networks outside the home so they can maintain their community associations and friendships.
